Now What?

NOW WHAT?”

Our Gospel Meeting is over. It ended on Wednesday evening. Mark Russell has returned to his home and his family in Valparaiso. He preached six lessons on “An Upside Down Kingdom” for us. While the meeting is over, there is still much that you can do to help the Plainfield Church of Christ honor and glorify God. May I suggest the following?

CONTINUE TO BE AN ACTIVE PARTICIPANT:  Think of the work of the church as MY work. We should determine that the Lord and His work are going to be first in our lives. Worship services and Bible classes should not be missed.  Make every possible effort to attend all of the assemblies of the church. “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33

CONTINUE TO BE ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT CHRIST AND THE CHURCH: Talk about the good things going on at the Plainfield Church of Christ. Talk about the lessons that were preached by Brother Russell. Talk about the sermons by Brother Starr. Talk about the Bible classes and what is being taught in the adult and children’s classes. SAY NOTHING TO DISCOURAGE OTHERS.

CONTINUE TO USE YOUR TALENTS FOR THE LORD: If all the members here would use their talents for the Lord, many lives could be touched. There are many who use their talents to do what they can for the Lord, and they will be blessed, but a terrible fate awaits those who “hide or bury” their talents. Matthew 25:14-30

CONTINUE TO BE ATTENTIVE IN EVERYTHING: The singing during the meeting sounded great. We should be ready to sing and sing from our hearts at every worship service. There were some excellent prayers offered during the meeting. Let us pray daily for the church and its work. We need to pray for each other because we all stand in need of help. We should listen to every word of the sermons as we did during the meeting. Our examples can influence visitors.

CONTINUE TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR FAMILY’S CONDUCT AND ATTENDANCE: Be on time each service. Help your family be a credit to the Lord and an influence on others. Your children cannot be expected to conduct themselves properly without parental supervision. “And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in training and admonition of the Lord.” Ephesians 6:4

CONTINUE TO PRAY EARNESTLY EACH DAY: Pray for the elders and their work. Pray for the deacons and their duties. Pray for the preacher and his messages. Pray for the teachers. Pray for unity and success in saving lost souls. Pray for friends and family members needing the gospel. Pray for your own spiritual growth. There is power in prayer.

Spend a few moments and reflect upon the messages delivered during the meeting. Watch them again on Facebook or listen to them on the website. Examine how much effort you put into being at the Gospel meeting. Take what you have heard and learned and spread the Gospel of Christ to others.
